Frank McCourt taught for twenty-seven years in the New York public school system before writing the Pulitzer Prize winning Angela's Ashes, his first book. It is McCourt's life story: being born in Depression-era Brooklyn, moving to Limerick, Ireland at age four with his parents and brothers, and enduring a drunken father, flea-ridden mattresses and dying siblings. Angela's Ashes won the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for Autobiography, Time Magazine's non-fiction Book of the Year (1996), The National Book Critics Circle Award, The Los Angeles Times Book Award and has been at the top of best-seller lists around the world.
His second book, 'Tis is a sequel to Angela's Ashes.
